Access Management

Definition:

Access management is the management of the entry and exit points along a roadway, which can improve safety by eliminating conflict points and reducing delays. There are two main types of access management:

  1. Full control: Allows connections with only select public roads. All other median openings are closed.
  2. Partial control: Allows connections with select public roads and consolidates and/or reduces the number of driveway connections. Median openings may be closed.

Benefits:

  • Improves safety by reducing conflict points.
  • Balances mobility and access to adjacent properties.
