Right-In/Right-Out Intersection

Definition:
Right in/right out (RIRO) intersection eliminates left turns into and out of the side road. A curbed median barrier on the mainline is a common strategy to create a RIRO intersection. The median physically blocks left turns into and out of the intersecting street.
Benefits:
- Improves safety by reducing conflict points.
- Reduces the likelihood of severe injury crashes by eliminating left turn and through movements.
